Indian Railways has started the application process for the post of Section Controller (Notification No.: 04/2025). There are 368 vacancies in 21 Railway Recruitment Boards. Out of these, 19 vacancies are in Thiruvananthapuram (General-7, SC-4, ST-5, OBC-2, EWS-1). Out of the total vacancies in Thiruvananthapuram, two vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen.
Qualification: Degree in any discipline or equivalent qualification.
Age: 20-33 years as on January 1, 2026. Candidates should not have been born before January 2, 1993 or after January 1, 2006. There is a relaxation of three years for OBC (Non-Cree Milli) category and five years for SC and ST categories in the upper age limit. Persons with disabilities will get relaxation of General-10 years, OBC-13 years, SC, ST-15 years. Ex-servicemen will also get statutory relaxation. Widows and divorced persons who are not remarried can apply up to 35 years (OBC-38, SC, ST-40).
Selection: Selection will be made through Computer Based Test and Aptitude Test. The duration of the Computer Based Test will be two hours. There will be a total of 100 questions from Analytical and Mathematical Ability, Logical Ability, and Mental Reasoning. Questions will be asked in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages including Malayalam. One-third of the wrong answer will be negative marked. Those who score a certain percentage of marks in this exam will be considered for the Computer Based Aptitude Test. The final selection will be made after document verification and medical examination. The exam date will be published on the website later.
Application Fee: For women/transgenders/ex-servicemen/SC, ST/minority categories/disabled/annual family income below Rs. 50,000, the application fee is Rs. 250 (the full amount will be refunded if you appear in the first stage of the exam). Others have to pay Rs 500. (If they appear for the first stage of the exam, they will get Rs 400 back). The application fee can be paid online till October 16.
Application: Apply online. Signature and live photograph (photo taken through the computer’s webcam or the front camera of the mobile phone should be uploaded while filling the application. Do not upload a photo taken earlier) and relevant certificates should also be uploaded. The railway zone in which you want to get the job can be given as an option. However, the appointment will be on the basis of merit and vacancies after the selection. Last date for receipt of applications: October 14.
